Import Templates

There are two ways to import template files from the Templates Browser, depending on the type of template file, that is whether it contains an individual job element or a job component:

Note: For the list of supported individual elements and components, see the Supported Template Elements topic.
  • Individual Elements: Drag and drop the individual job element to its corresponding location. For example, if you want to import individual Web Page User Inputs, such as a Button, then drag and drop its template file onto the WebPage open in the Web Page Editor. Right-click on the GIF animation and open it in a new browser window or tab to play it from the beginning.

  • Component Elements: You can import a template containing a component element by three means:

    • Double-click the template file in the Templates Browser.
    • Select the template file, then right-click it and select Import from the context menu.

    • Drag-and-drop the component template file.

Tip: Cognex recommends using one of the first two methods instead of drag-and-dropping for component templates. This is because components only have one location where they can be placed, and the first two methods automatically place them in their proper location.
