Run As Dialog

The Run As dialog allows Standard Users to write to certain areas of the registry that require Administrator privilege. If you are logged into Windows as a Standard User, you are not allowed to write to the registry. However, when using the In-Sight Explorer, writing to the registry is required when entering the Offline Programming Key or changing the Start at Windows Log On option. In such cases, when the User Account Control (UAC) is disabled, the Run As dialog will be displayed and allow you to write to the registry by providing Administrator credentials.

Note:
  • Under the following conditions, Window's Run As dialog will be displayed when attempting to enter the Offline Programming Key or change the Start at Windows Log On option. Provide the Administrator credentials to continue the operation.
    • When using Windows 7/Windows 10, logged into Windows as a Standard User and the User Account Control (UAC) is enabled.
  • If you are using Windows 7/Windows 10, logged into Windows as an Administrator and the User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, the Allow/Deny dialog will be displayed when attempting to enter the Offline Programming Key or change the Start at Windows Log On option. Select Deny to continue the operation.
  • The following default folder locations were moved to new locations to allow Standard User access (these folders are also now accessible from the Start Menu in In-Sight Explorer 4.5.0 and later):
