Vision Tools

In-Sight vision processing tools consist of functions that extract and process image features for further data analysis and decision making. Vision Tools are inserted into the spreadsheet using functions from the Insert Function dialog or the Palette. For more information, see Insert Function Dialog and Palette: Spreadsheet View. The vision tools include:

  • Blob: Extracts, selects, and sorts blob data from an image region. This type of vision processing is sometimes referred to as connectivity analysis.
  • Color: Extracts color data and matches found colors to trained models.
  • Edge: Locates straight and curved edges. Sorts edges into pairs. Computes edge statistics.
  • Flaw Detection: Performs advanced detection on a part or product for unacceptable variations.
  • Histogram: Counts image pixels for statistical image analysis, as well as feature classification.
  • ID: Reads and verifies linear bar codes, 1D bar codes, and 2D matrix codes.
  • Image: Processes an image to enhance desirable features while removing or diminishing undesirable features.
  • InspectEdge: Performs advanced edge analysis for detecting defects.
  • OCV/OCR: Segments, extracts, and trains fonts for reading (OCR) and verifying (OCV) a string in an image.
  • Pattern Match: Locates features in an image that exhibit maximum similarity to a previously defined pattern.
Note: The availability of functions and Vision Tools is contingent upon the specific In-Sight vision system and firmware. For more information about specific function and Vision Tool availability, please contact your Cognex sales representative.
