Selecting a Pattern Feature

When choosing a pattern to use for your inspection, consider the following guidelines to ensure the best results:

  • The pattern is consistently present in every image.
  • The pattern contains as many unique and consistently present features as possible, and the features that comprise the pattern are consistent in their appearance and relative geometry to one another, as well as being clearly defined.
  • If possible, choose a larger pattern; larger patterns generally imply more unique features in the pattern, which allow for more consistent and accurate detection.
