Presence/Absence Tools - Brightness

The Brightness Presence/Absence Tool determines whether or not a feature is present or absent, based upon an average greyscale (i.e. brightness) value of the pixels in the region, and reports that value.

This tool returns the following results:

In-Sight Models Results
In-Sight 2000 Series 1XX Vision Sensors (110, 120, 130) Pass/Fail status only
In-Sight Vision Systems (All Models) and In-Sight 2000 Series 23X Vision Sensors (23M, 230) Standard Results (No Limitations)

The Brightness Presence/Absence Tool is useful in situations where a feature of a good part is much darker or brighter than the feature on a bad part. Increases or decreases in a feature's brightness are a good indication of a part or object's presence or absence. For example, whether or not a dark or light-colored bottle cap is present or absent can quickly be measured by the brightness within the region.

Tip: For more information how to select a feature, refer to Selecting a Feature.
