Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server

Determines whether In-Sight devices that support Ethernet configuration use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) on startup. Select this option only if a DHCP server is running on the local network. If this checkbox or button is cleared, then the values in the Network Settings dialog or the Add Sensor/Device to Network dialog are used to configure TCP/IP.

Note: In the Network Settings dialog, when the Use DHCP Server checkbox is enabled, you can specify a DHCP Timeout. If a DHCP server does not respond within the specified time, the sensor will boot without network support enabled.

In a production environment, use static IP addresses; this eliminates the need for a DHCP server on the local network and prevents intermittent DHCP traffic.
