PROFINET Settings dialog

The PROFINET Settings dialog configures an In-Sight vision system to communicate with a Siemens PLC.

To display the PROFINET Settings dialog:

  1. In the Network Settings dialog, from the Industrial Ethernet Protocols drop-down, select PROFINET.
  2. Press the Settings button to the right of the PROFINET selection, to launch the PROFINET Settings dialog.

    Note: The Enable User Data Bypass option is only available on In-Sight vision systems running In-Sight firmware 5.4.0 and later. For a complete list of models and supported firmware versions, see Firmware Versions.

PROFINET Settings Dialog Controls

  • Enable PROFINET Station Name: This checkbox determines whether the Vision System's host name or station name is used with the PROFINET protocol. By default, this setting is disabled.
  • Station Name: Specifies the name of the Vision System used with the PROFINET protocol. The maximum length of the station name is 239 characters. The station Name of Station field syntax should meet the following rules: 
    • 1 or more labels, separated by a period (.).
    • otal length between 1 and 239 characters.
    • otal label length between 1 and 63 characters.
    • Labels may consist of the following character types - a-z, 0-9.
    • Labels may not start with a hyphen-minus character (-).
    • Labels may not end with a hyphen-minus character (-).
    • he first label may not start with "port-xyz" or "port-xyz-abcde" where "a, b, c, d, e, x, y or z" equal "0 through 9".
    • he station name may not have the form: "n.n.n.n", where "n" = 0 through 999.
    • Labels only start with "xn-" if RFC 3490 is applied.
  • Enable User Data Bypass: Check this checkbox to bypass the cached data and read the raw user data directly. By default, this setting is disabled.
