Show Pixel Values Mode

In the Show Pixel Values Mode, the cursor is used to reference a single pixel on the image when the spreadsheet overlay is not displayed. In this mode, as you move the cursor over the image, it registers:

  • The 8-bit greyscale value for monochrome In-Sight vision systems, for the pixel at that coordinate position.
  • The 8-bit RGB values for color In-Sight sensors, for the pixel at that coordinate position. For more information, see Color Components of a Pixel.

The values are displayed in the status bar of the active Spreadsheet View. For more information, see Status Bar.

Invoke Show Pixel Values Mode

From the View menu, click Overlay to hide the spreadsheet overlay. Alternately, from the Job Display toolbar, click the Overlay button. Then simply scroll the cursor over the image to register values in the status bar.

In the first example, the cursor is located at (x,y) = (238,272) and has an 8-bit grayscale value of 33. The second example is from an In-Sight color sensor; the cursor is located at (x,y) = (251,347), and has Red, Green and Blue color components of (R,G,B) = (105,26,32).

Absolute Pixel Value and Approximate Pixel Value

In the spreadsheet view, absolute pixel values are displayed only when the image zoom ratio is set to Zoom 1:1from the Image menu, and the status bar displays values as follows: . When the image zoom ratio is not 1:1, "approximate" pixel values are displayed and the status bar displays values as follows: . In the EasyBuilder view, absolute pixel values are always displayed regardless of the image zoom ratio.
