Cognex In-Sight 24.2.0 is the latest software release for the In-Sight 2800, In-Sight 3800, and In-Sight L38 vision system families. This update includes a series of UI, usability, and general enhancements.
EasyBuilder Enhancements
- Group Tool: The Group Tool allows users to combine EasyBuilder tools into groups to link their execution, without changing the job or determining the pass/fail status of a set group of tools.
- Fixturing Tools: The Edge, Edge Intersection, and Circle Fixture Tools are used to locate and fixture linear edge, edge intersection, and circular features, respectively. These three additional fixturing options can be used when there are no viable features for a pattern fixture.
- Count Tools: The “Count Blobs” tool counts the number of groups of dark- or light-connected pixels, while the “Count Edges” tool counts the number of linear edges in the region of the image. These tools report the number of found features and a Pass/Fail result based on the number of features.
Spreadsheet Enhancements
- Job Licensing: The Job Licensing feature allows customers to license their job files, protecting their intellectual property. Users can password-protect individual cells or cell ranges; once protected, formulas are hidden and cannot be edited, with the Formula Bar displaying “***” to ensure confidentiality. The In-Sight License Generator creates licenses for one or multiple vision systems, which can be added via the In-Sight Vision Suite Licensing utility. Licensed vision systems execute password-protected cells, displaying results while keeping formulas confidential, ensuring job files remain secure and proprietary work is protected from unauthorized use.
- Snippets: The Snippets feature allows users to import and export pre-configured groups of Spreadsheet cells. Users can export selected cell groups as snippets, which can then be imported into empty cells. Snippets are saved as files in the Snippets folder on the PC, enabling easy reuse.
- File Cleanup: The File Cleanup feature manages the local file system of a vision system. When enabled, it monitors the target folder (which cannot point to the main folder of the user space) each time the WriteImage or WriteData tools are run to maintain a specified percentage of free space automatically, removing the oldest files when necessary from the local file system of the vision system.
Usability Enhancements
- Tool Search: The search option is now available on both Functions and Snippets panels, making it easier to browse the available tool and snippet libraries.
- Persist View: The split view and the enabled status of Snippets or EasyView now persists during the camera session and are restored upon reconnecting to In-Sight Vision Suite.
Quality Enhancements
