Does In-Sight 2800 Support Power Over Ethernet

This article discusses which In-Sight models support PoE

12/01/2026

Question

What models of In-Sight use Power Over Ethernet?

Answer

By default, all In-Sight 2800 series cameras that come with mini light and C-mount can use the Power Over Ethernet (PoE) injector.

They can also power up with a regular power source. Note that only one method can be used at a time, meaning that cameras cannot use both power sources at the same time.

All other models of the In-Sight 2800 series can only be powered using a regular power source connected by the Power and I/O Breakout Cable.

Note: Cameras with PoE by default take the power initially from the Ethernet cable.

If the power needs to be provided by the Breakout Cable, then first the Breakout Cable needs to be connected to the power source and the camera before the Ethernet cable is connected to the PoE injector.

When implementing PoE, several crucial factors should be considered to ensure a reliable and safe deployment. These include device compatibility, cable quality, power budget, network topology, and future scalability.
