How the GetX Tool Works with IDMax to Get QR Code Coordinates

How the GetX tool works with IDMax to get QR code coordinates.

2026/02/19

Details

In In-Sight Vision Suite, the GetX() and GetY() functions are used to extract the exact position of a decoded QR code or DataMatrix code detected by the IDMax tool.

These functions do not return the center point directly. Instead, they return the X and Y coordinates of the QR code corners, which can then be used for:

  • Position verification
  • Alignment checking
  • PLC communication
  • Multi-code tracking

Function Syntax

GetX(Structure, [Index1], [Index2])
GetY(Structure, [Index1], [Index2])
Meaning of Each Parameter (For IDMax)

ParameterMeaning
StructureThe IDMax tool cell.
Index1Corner index of the QR code
Index2Index of detected symbol when multiple codes are present

Index1 – QR Code Corner Selection

Index1 defines which corner of the QR code you want the coordinate for:

Index1 ValueCorner Name
0Top-Left
1Top-Right
2Bottom-Right
3Bottom-Left

Index2 – QR Code Number Selection (Multi-Code Handling)

If IDMax detects multiple QR codes in one image, Index2 selects which QR code’s coordinates you want:

Index2 ValueQR Code Selected
0First detected QR code
1Second detected QR code
2Third detected QR code
