Controlling light settings per read setup using DMCC commands
Overview
In more advanced applications, customers may want to dynamically switch lighting configurations across multiple Read Setups using a PLC or PC via DMCC commands. Although the command ||>SETUP.ENABLE-SINGLE selects a specific Read Setup for decoding, it does not redirect subsequent light-configuration commands to that setup.
This article explains the correct procedure for addressing light settings within a specific Read Setup.
Issue description
A common misconception is that sending:
||>SETUP.ENABLE-SINGLE <n>
automatically causes:
||>SET LIGHT.DIRECT ...
to apply to the same Read Setup.
This is not the case.
||>LIGHT.DIRECT will still target Read Setup 0 unless an additional command is issued.
Required command: SETUP.PROG-TARGET
To modify lighting parameters inside the Read Setup you intend to program, you must also set:
||>SET SETUP.PROG-TARGET <n>
This command directs configuration changes—such as lighting—to the specified Read Setup.
Correct command sequences
Case 1: Modify light settings in read setup 0
||>SETUP.ENABLE-SINGLE 0
||>SET SETUP.PROG-TARGET 0
||>SET LIGHT.DIRECT OFF OFF OFF OFF ON ON ON ON OFF
||>TRIGGER ON
Case 2: modify light settings in read setup 1
||>SETUP.ENABLE-SINGLE 1
||>SET SETUP.PROG-TARGET 1
||>SET LIGHT.DIRECT OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON
||>TRIGGER ON
Summary
SETUP.ENABLE-SINGLE controls which Read Setup is used for decoding.
LIGHT.DIRECT always defaults to Read Setup 0 unless redirected.
Use SETUP.PROG-TARGET <n> to write lighting or configuration changes to a specific Read Setup.
Both commands must be used together for correct behavior.
