Setting Up the Patterns Identification Tool
Once the tool has been added, you will need to configure the regions in the image that will define your pattern (the Model region), and where in the image the pattern will be found (the Search region).
The Patterns (1-10) Identification Tool allows you to create a library of up to 10 different Model patterns. Each Model pattern must be trained using a separate image; the tool searches the image for individual instances of the trained patterns, and will not recognized multiple instances of a pattern in the image.
- Position the Model region over the first pattern that will be used as the initial training model; make sure that the Model region only covers the important features of the pattern.

Position the Search region so that it covers the areas within the image where you expect the patterns to appear. To help the performance of the tool, create smaller Search regions; the larger the Search region, the longer it will take the tool to perform its inspection.
Note: The Model and Search regions cannot be bent into an arc or annular shape. - Press the OK button to confirm the regions (press the Cancel button to not add the tool to the job). The Model region will be replaced by a green outline of the trained pattern.
- To define another Model pattern, load or acquire a new image with a new pattern, select an untrained Product from the Table (marked "Not Trained" in the Trained column) and press the Model Region button, and repeat steps 1 through 3.
- With the tool initially configured, load several images and adjust the tool's parameters, as needed, to compensate for your expected ranges of variations.
- Finally, if desired, use the tool's Input/Output properties to share tool data between other tools and/or other external devices.
