Setting Up the Read 2D Code and Read 2D Codes (1-20) Identification Tools
Once the tool has been added, you will need to configure the region in the image:
-
For the Read 2D Code Identification Tool, position the region over the code/symbol, and make sure that the boundaries of the region encompass all of the code/symbol. For the Read 2D Codes (1-20) Identification Tool, position the region over the area where you expect the codes/symbols to appear, and make sure that the boundaries of the region encompass all of the codes/symbols that you want to decode. To help speed up the performance of the tool, try and create smaller regions; larger regions take longer to inspect.
Note: When reading 2D codes, it is important to allow a "quiet zone" between the code and the region. The "quiet zone" implies at least a 3 pixel separation between the edge of the code and region defining the code. -
Press the OK button to confirm the region (press the Cancel button to not add the tool to the job).
- Once the region has been confirmed, you will need to define parameters in the Settings tab:
- The Symbology Group parameter, which defines the type of symbology, Data Matrix or QR Code (by default, the symbology is set to Data Matrix.
- The Mode parameter, which defines how the tool will operate: Read or Match String (by default, the Mode is set to Read).
- For the Read 2D Codes (1-20) Identification Tool, you will also need to define the Maximum Results parameter, which defines the number of codes/symbols to decode (by default, it is set to 1).
- The tool will draw a non-editable bounding box around the decoded code/symbol, and insert a
icon to indicate the fixture created from the decoded code/symbol.
- With the tool initially configured, load several images and adjust the tool's parameters, as needed, to compensate for your expected ranges of variations.
- Finally, if desired, use the tool's Input/Output properties to share tool data between other tools and/or other external devices.
