Setting Up the Read Postal Code Identification Tool

Once the tool has been added, you will need to configure the region in the image:

  1. Position the region over the code/symbol, and make sure that the boundaries of the region encompass all of the code/symbol. To help speed up the performance of the tool, try and create smaller regions; larger regions take longer to inspect.
  2. Press the OK button to confirm the region (press the Cancel button to not add the tool to the job).

  3. Once the region has been confirmed, you will need to define parameters in the Settings tab: The Mode parameter, which defines how the tool will operate: Read or Match String (by default, the Mode is set to Read).
  1. The tool will draw a non-editable bounding box around the decoded code/symbol, and insert a icon to indicate the fixture created from the decoded code/symbol.
  2. With the tool initially configured, load several images and adjust the tool's parameters, as needed, to compensate for your expected ranges of variations.
  3. Finally, if desired, use the tool's Input/Output properties to share tool data between other tools and/or other external devices.
