OPC Tag Behavior When Editing a Job File
This page describes how OPC Tags respond to various actions that can be performed in a job file from In-Sight Explorer.
Saving the Job File
All Job Tags are saved with the job file when the job is saved. Sensor Tags, however, are inherent to the sensor itself and are not stored in the job file. See Job Tags vs. Sensor Tags for more details.
Editing a Cell Expression
Editing the expression in a cell does not affect the OPC Tag assigned to the cell.
Copy & Paste a cell to a Different Location
Pasting a copied cell that has an OPC Tag will not paste a second OPC Tag because duplicate tag names are not allowed. The original OPC Tag will remain on the copied cell, and the pasted cell will have no OPC Tag.
Cut & Paste a Cell to a Different Location
Pasting a cut cell that has an OPC Tag will move the OPC Tag to the new cell destination.
Deleting a Cell
If a spreadsheet cell is deleted, the OPC tag will be removed along with the cell contents.
Clear Contents
Clear Contents will remove any OPC Tags on cells in the selected range.
Insert Rows
Inserting rows above a cell that contains an OPC Tag will move the OPC Tag along with the cell.
Empty Cells
An OPC Tag cannot be assigned to a cell that has no expression or value.
Pasting a Tag Over Another Tag
If you paste a copied cell (with a tag) over the top of another cell (with a tag), the pasted tag will overwrite the tag in the destination cell.
Using OPC Tags in Spreadsheet Expressions
OPC Tags cannot be used as variables in spreadsheet expressions.
