Communicating Over POWERLINK
An In-Sight vision system can be configured to communicate with the POWERLINK network.
To communicate over POWERLINK, first perform the following:
- Go to the Communication Application Step. In the Communications group box, press the Add Device button.
- From the Device Setup group box, select PLC from the Device drop-down list.
- Select B&R from the Manufacturer drop-down list.
- Select POWERLINK from the Protocol drop-down list.
- Press the OK button.
Once these settings are enabled, the Settings and Format Input/Output tabs can be configured.
-
POWERLINK Settings Tab
Enabled: Enables POWERLINK on the In-Sight vision system (default = unchecked).
Node ID: Defines the Node ID (1-239; default = 1) for the In-Sight vision system on the POWERLINK network. This control is enabled when the Enabled checkbox is checked. The Node ID, together with the POWERLINK network’s NAT IP address, can be used to communicate with other devices outside of the POWERLINK network. For example, the default NAT IP address is 192.168.101.0. To communicate with an In-Sight vision system with a Node ID of 26, combine the NAT IP address with the Node ID: 192.168.101.26.
Note: The In-Sight vision system must be restarted to enable POWERLINK protocol.
- For more information, see the In-Sight® Explorer Help file.
- Optionally, click the Add Device button again to add an additional "secondary" protocol to the job. For more information, refer to the Supported Protocols section on Device Setup.
