Image Filter Tools - Neighbor

Note: This tool is only available on In-Sight vision systems using In-Sight firmware 4.x.x, and is not available on In-Sight vision systems running In-Sight firmware 5.1.0 and later.

The Neighbor Image Filter Tool filters a region of the image with a pixel-by-pixel "neighbor" image-enhancement technique, like shrinking, expanding, filling, smoothing or edge enhancement; outputs a Tool Image that can be referenced by other Location or Inspection Tools.

The "neighbor" image-enhancement Operations involve assigning a greyscale value to the output pixel based on the greyscale values of the "neighbor" pixels in the tool's region. The size of the "neighborhood" is determined by the Filter Rows and Columns parameters.

The Neighbor Image Filter Tool is useful in situations where you need to enhance an area of the image to better detect a feature for an inspection, such as shrinking the glare from a metallic surface to better read a dot peen code, or expanding the light end of the greyscale spectrum to remove dark specks when reading OCR characters, for example.
