Math & Logic Tools - Compute Point

The Compute Point Math & Logic Tool is used to calculate a point in the image based on mathematical expressions related to the outputs of other Location and/or Inspection Tools, which can be referenced by other tools. The tool reports the X, Y coordinates of the computed point.

Note: The tool returns the results in pixels, unless the image was calibrated to real-world units (In-Sight vision systems) or Field of View (Width) was set to real-world units (In-Sight 2000 series vision sensors) in the Set Up Image application step.

The Compute Point Math & Logic Tool is useful in situations where you want to programmatically identify a point in the image that can be referenced by other tools, versus a static point graphically defined in the image, like that of a User-Defined Point Geometry Tool. For example, if you wanted the point to be placed in the image based on the result of a mathematical function or the result of a particular tool, such as the mid-point of an edge found by an Edge Presence/Absence Tool, the Compute Point Math & Logic Tool can be constructed to use those tools' results as inputs to calculate the point, and the point's location in the image changes to reflect the output of the referenced tools. The computed point can also be used by Math Math & Logic Tools for additional logic decisions based on the point.
