Anybus X-gateway

The Anybus^® X-gateway™ facilitates communication between two different industrial network protocols, allowing them to communicate and exchange data. The Anybus X-gateway utilizes an Ethernet interface as a multi-purpose communication solution, offering industrial network protocol support, as well as Web and email capabilities.

Under this model, In-Sight sensors, using TCP/IP Modbus Communications, are able to communicate to, and exchange data with PLCs on a different network (PROFIBUS or CCLink for example). The Anybus X-gateway Ethernet interface exchanges data between the In-Sight sensor(s) and a PLC using the Input and Output Buffers. These buffers are accessed via industrial network protocols as shown in the following diagram , connecting a TCP/IP Modbus network and a PROFIBUS network.

• Input Buffer: The Input Buffer stores data sent from the PLC, on the PROFIBUS network. This data will be sent to an In-Sight sensor, on the TCP/IP Modbus network.
• Output Buffer: The Output Buffer stores data sent from the In-Sight sensor, on the TCP/IP Modbus network. This data will be sent to the PLC on the PROFIBUS network.
