Restore From Dialog

The Restore From dialog allows you to retrieve the following:

  • The most current archive of jobs, images, and configuration data for an In-Sight vision system/emulator.
  • Older archived copies of jobs, images, and configuration data for an In-Sight vision system/emulator.
  • An archive from a different In-Sight vision system/emulator
  • A backup from the SD Card installed to the vision system

Restore From the PC

Archived backups on the In-Sight vision system/sensor are restored from the Backup Directory, which is defined in the Options dialog. In-Sight Explorer will look for any subfolders that match sensor names from the In-Sight Network and display them in the Restore From dialog.

If a vision system has only been backed up once, then a single instance of its name (with a folder icon) will appear in the right-hand pane. If a sensor has been backed up multiple times, additional folders show up with incremental numbers following the sensor name (such as is7802_010203.000, is7802_010203.001, etc.) The highest number corresponds to the most recent backup for a given sensor.

Note:
  • Vision systems/sensors must be Offline in order to perform the Restore From function; attempting to restore an Online vision system/sensor will prompt a warning dialog to take the sensor Offline.
  • Restoring an In-Sight vision system/sensor from the archive of a different vision system/sensor can cause unexpected behavior if the two sensors are different models (for example, attempting to restore from an In-Sight 5400C archive to an In-Sight Micro 1400 vision system); some job functions of the source In-Sight vision system/sensor might not be supported on the target In-Sight vision system/sensor.
  • When restoring, existing files with the same name on the vision system/sensor or emulator, including the current Network Settings, will be overwritten. Existing files which are not in the set of files being restored will not be overwritten.
  • If a vision system/sensor is restored, the User List will not be cleared. Therefore, any user names that were added to the User List before the vision system/sensor has been restored will remain on the vision system/sensor after it has been restored. After the vision system/sensor has been restored, manually add or remove users from the User List.
  • The Backup Directory's default folder is in the following location, to allow Standard User access: C:\ProgramData\Cognex\In-Sight\In-Sight Explorer x.x.x

Restore From the SD Card Installed to the Vision System

The most recent backup on the SD card will be restored to the In-Sight vision system.

Note:
  • The vision systems must be Offline in order to restore from the SD card.
  • The SD card stores one backup only. For the subsequent backups, the previous backup will be overwritten.
  • A backup on the SD card can only be restored to the In-Sight vision system that the SD card is installed.

Use the Restore From Dialog

  1. From the System menu, click Restore From.

  2. Select a vision system or emulator from the left-hand pane to receive files from the backup. Only one vision system or emulator can be selected at a time.
  3. Select the backup location from the right-hand pane to restore.
    1. SD Card: The last backup will be restored.

Note: The SD Card option is enabled only when the In-Sight vision system with the SD Card installed is selected in the left-hand pane (the Select In-Sight Sensor to Restore list box).
    2. Backup Set: Select an archive from the list.
  4. Click Restore From.
