EDS FILES
EDS files, short for Electronic Data Sheet files, are simple text-based files describing device capabilities, parameters, and communication properties primarily for Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and ControlNet devices.
EDS files for use with DataMan barcode readers are copied to a user's PC with the installation of DataMan Setup Tool, which is the software used to deploy these readers.
File path for the location of DataMan EDS files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cognex\DataMan\DataMan Software vX.X.X\Tools\EtherNetIP\EDS
Here, X.X.X represents the version of DataMan Setup tool installed.
If the version installed is v25.2.0 then the file path would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Cognex\DataMan\DataMan Software v25.2.0\Tools\EtherNetIP\EDS
GSD FILES
GSD files, General Station Description files, contain key device information for use with PROFINET and PROFIBUS automation systems.
These are also installed together with DataMan Setup Tool.
File path for DataMan GSD Files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cognex\DataMan\DataMan Software vX.X.X\Tools\Profinet
Again, X.X.X represents the version of DataMan setup Tool installed e.g v25.2.0
