Adjusting the Logic Math & Logic Tool Parameters

Note: This topic describes the user interface when connected to an In-Sight 2000 series vision sensor. If connected to In-Sight vision systems, refer to the In-Sight Vision System section of Adjusting the Logic Math & Logic Tool Parameters.
ClosedExpression

The Expression text box is used to construct a logical formula of tool pass and fail results. Use the Job and Tool Data Symbol Tree to assemble the formula. You can enter items by either double-clicking them, or highlighting them and pressing the Insert button.

Note: If the Expression references a tool that has been deleted, the reference will automatically be replaced by "Job.MissingArg" in the formula. The tool will return a Fail until the reference is corrected.
ClosedJob and Tool Data Symbol Tree

The Job and Tool Data Symbol Tree contains the tool pass and fail results output by Location and/or Inspection Tools. The job and tool data are symbolic references to the values contained within them. Symbols can be added to the Expression by one of two methods:

  • Expand the tree, select the desired symbolic reference and then press the Insert button.
  • Expand the tree, and double-click the desired symbolic reference.
Note: The list of symbols available is contingent upon the cursor's placement in the Expression. If the cursor is located within the Expression in a location that prohibits a symbol from being added, those symbols are unavailable until the cursor is in a location where they can be added.
ClosedInsert Button

The Insert button is used to place symbols into the Expression. Select the desired symbol and then press the Insert button to add the symbol to the Expression.

ClosedOpen Parenthesis, Comma, Close Parenthesis, AND, OR and NOT Buttons

The Open Parenthesis, Comma, Close Parenthesis, AND, OR and NOT buttons are used to construct formulas. Press the appropriate button to add them to your formula.

ClosedDelete Button

The Delete button is used to delete highlighted words or symbols from the Expression. Highlight the desired word or symbol and press Delete.

ClosedInvert Result

When enabled, the tool fails if the result falls within the range limits. (Default = Off)

ClosedExecution Time (ms)

Displays the amount of time, in milliseconds, that the tool took to perform its inspection. This time may vary, depending upon the complexity of the scene in the image, as well as the position of the feature within the image, and the amount of variance allowed in the parameters.

ClosedName

Defines the name of your inspection tool. The default name is “Logic_1” (if it is the first Logic Math & Logic Tool added to the job, otherwise it will be incremented, e.g. “Logic_2”, “Logic_3”, etc.).

ClosedEnabled

Defines when and whether or not the inspection tool should run (default setting is “On”).

  • Select “Off” if you want to disable the tool.
  • Select an Input line if you want the tool tied to a specific discrete input line, where it can be turned On or Off (a High signal, 1, is On, a Low signal, 0, is Off). Connecting the tool to an input allows a control system, such as a PLC, to determine which tools should run, and when.
ClosedDescription

A comment that describes the purpose of the tool (by default, the field is blank). Up to 255 alpha-numeric characters or 127 Asian language characters may be used.
