Location Tools - Edge

The Edge Location Tool is used to locate linear edge features that fall within the specified parameters.

The Edge Location Tool is one of the faster tools, with the ability to recognize edges features much quicker than a Pattern Location Tool. This tool is also useful as a fixture for other vision tools when the edge feature has high contrast, travels in only one direction (horizontal or vertical) and does not experience rotation beyond 10°.

The tool reports the following results:

In-Sight Models Results
In-Sight 2000 Series 1XX Vision Sensors (110, 120, 130) Pass/Fail status only
In-Sight Vision Systems (All Models) and In-Sight 2000 Series 23X Vision Sensors (23M, 230) X, Y coordinates of the mid-point of the found edge*, angular orientation and pass/fail status.
* The tool returns the results in pixels, unless the image was calibrated to real-world units (In-Sight vision systems) or Field of View (Width) was set to real-world units (In-Sight 2000 series vision sensors) in the Set Up Image application step.
