In-Sight ViDi PC Manager

The In-Sight ViDi PC Manager window is used to configure and start the In-Sight ViDi PC service, the process manager of the In-Sight ViDi PC solution. In-Sight ViDi PC allows you to maintain a PC deployment where one or more GigE cameras are connected to a Cognex CFG-8704e frame grabber instead of using an In-Sight D900 series vision system. It also allows you to quickly stop the running Emulator.

Starting from In-Sight ViDi 1.8.0, the adapter ships with two versions of the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager application if you have both In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0 and 1.8.0 installed on the same PC:

In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.2.0 lets you set up, start or stop an In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 service instance. You can launch this version of In-Sight ViDi PC Manager from the Start Menu in the Cognex In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0 > In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 node, or with the following executable:

In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.8.0 lets you set up, start, or stop an In-Sight ViDi PC 1.8.0 service instance. You can launch this version of In-Sight ViDi PC Manager from the Start Menu in the Cognex In-Sight ViDi 1.3.0 > In-Sight ViDi PC 1.3.0 node, or with the following executable:

The Manager dialog displays the status of the In-Sight ViDi PC service, and offers settings for how In-Sight ViDi PC starts up and sends data through the network. It also allows you to start or stop the service on demand, which is useful if you want to switch to a different version of In-Sight ViDi PC, or switch the service between emulation or a live production environment.

Note:

You can start either a 1.2.0 or 1.8.0 instance of the In-Sight ViDi PC service with the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.2.0 application. However, Cognex recommends to use it to start an In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 instance only.
To start a version 1.2.0 instance, make sure that you launch the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.2.0 application before opening In-Sight Vision Suite. If In-Sight Vision Suite is already running, the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.2.0 returns a Failed to start In-Sight ViDi PC error message.
Only one instance of In-Sight ViDi PC can run at a time. For example, if In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 is already running on the PC, you cannot start an In-Sight ViDi PC 1.8.0 process until you stop the 1.2.0 instance.
You cannot start an In-Sight ViDi PC instance while an Emulator is running.
Compared to In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0, starting from 1.8.0, the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager no longer starts automatically after installation. You must launch either In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.2.0 or 1.8.0 manually, and then enable the Start when a user logs in checkbox to enable automatic startup.
