Configuring the Format Output Data and Format Input Data Tabs (SLMP)
After configuring the SLMP Settings tab, you will need to configure the Format Input Data and Format Output Data tabs, which are used to define the tool or job data that will be transferred to and from the Mitsubishi PLC/MC or Robot Controller and the In-Sight vision system.

The Format Input Data tab is used to define inputs to the In-Sight vision system. A maximum of 32 inputs may be defined per job.
- Click on the Format Input Data tab to begin configuring the data that will be transferred from the PLC/MC or Robot Controller to the In-Sight vision system.
-
Press the Add button to launch the Select Input Data dialog, which contains data from the job, such as any Location or Inspection Tools that were added to your job, acquisition data and Inputs.Select the data that you want transferred in to the In-Sight vision system from the PLC/MC or Robot Controller, and press the OK button.
Note: The Source Device setting in the SLMP Settings tab influences the type of data that may be added. If the Source Device setting is configured to a bit device, for each bit address, you may add Boolean data types and assign them to a particular bit. If the Source Device setting is configured to a word device, the Data Type is configurable and the starting address will be the Input Data Device Address and the field offset, in words. - Once you have added your data, the data will appear in the table, displaying the Device Address, name of the input, its data type, size and value.
-
You can customize the default data type by selecting a different data type from the Data Type drop-down list.
Note:- The Data Type selections are dependent on the Source Device setting in the SLMP Settings tab. When the Source Device setting is configured to a bit device, the Data Type drop-down list will only include the Bit option. When the Source Device setting is configured to a word device, the Data Type drop-down list will include the following options: Bit, 16 bit integer, 16 bit unsigned integer, 32 bit integer, 32 bit float and String.
- If you select String from the Data Type drop-down list, the Element Size (words) control will be enabled and you can specify the string length by choosing the correct number of words. When iQ-R/Q/L Series (3E Frame), iQ-F Series (3E Frame) or CR800-D Series (3E Frame) is the selected Controller Type, the total maximum message size is 960 words. When FX Series (1E Frame) is the selected Controller Type, the total maximum message size is 64 words.
- When iQ-R/Q/L Series (3E Frame), iQ-F Series (3E Frame) or CR800-D Series (3E Frame) is the selected Controller Type, the maximum length for input data is 1920 bytes. When FX Series (1E Frame) is the selected Controller Type, the maximum length for input data is 128 bytes. The input data size is displayed in the Message size (bytes) field.
- The Reset Data Types button resets all the Data Types to their default settings.
- The EasyBuilder implementation of the SLMP protocol does not support 8-bit or unsigned data types.
- You can rearrange the order of the data that will be sent or received by selecting the data from the list and clicking either the Up or Down buttons to set the desired order.

The Format Output Data tab is used to define outputs from the In-Sight vision system. A maximum of 128 outputs may be defined per job.
- Click on the Format Output Data tab to begin configuring the data that will be transferred from the In-Sight vision system to the PLC/MC or Robot Controller.
-
Press the Add button to launch the Select Output Data dialog, which contains data from the job, such as any Location or Inspection Tools that were added to your job, acquisition data and the overall job results. Select the data that you want transferred in to the In-Sight vision system from the PLC/MC or Robot Controller, and press the OK button.
Note:- By default, the Job.Inspection_Count data symbol is automatically added to the output data table. This symbol alerts the PLC/MC or Robot Controller that the In-Sight vision system has acquired a new image and a new set of inspection results have arrived. This symbol can be removed if it is not necessary for the application.
- The Destination Device setting in the SLMP Settings tab influences the type of data that may be added. If the Destination Device setting is configured to a bit device, for each bit address, you may add Boolean data types and assign them to a particular bit. If the Destination Device setting is configured to a word device, the Data Type is configurable and the starting address will be the Output Data Device Address and the field offset, in words.
- Once you have added your data, the data will appear in the table, displaying the name, data type, size, value and the starting register number of the selected data. To the right of the table is a registers preview window, which displays how the data is formatted in to the PLC/MC or Robot Controller registers.
