Creating and Saving a Configuration

On First Launch

When the In-Sight OPC Classic Server is launched for the first time, the Server Runtime window will appear, similar to the following:

As indicated in the Event Log, no configuration was located; this means we must create one.

Tip: Before creating a configuration, you may wish to use In-Sight Explorer to add custom Job Tags to your sensor(s).

Create and Save a New Configuration

  1. From the Server Runtime dialog, click Server > Edit Configuration. This will launch the Configuration Editor:

  1. Select a sensor or emulator from the Available Sensors pane. If your desired sensor or emulator does not appear in the tree, you will need to Add a new sensor.
  2. After selecting a sensor from the tree, the Available Tags pane populates with tags that may be added to your server configuration. Select the desired tags from the list and click Available Tags > Add Selected. Alternatively, you may double-click an individual tag to add it to the list of configured tags.
  3. The tags chosen in the previous step now appear in the Configured Tags pane:

  4. Repeat steps (2) through (4) for any additional sensors.
  5. Once all desired tags have been added, click File > Save and Exit.
  6. The Server Runtime dialog now indicates the tags you configured in previous steps, similar to the following:

  7. At this point, you may start the server by clicking Server > Run.  OPC clients will then be able to access data from the In-Sight OPC Classic Server:
