Edit Menu: Spreadsheet View

The Edit menu contains functionality to manipulate spreadsheet cell data, cell states, files and images. You can also create a new Custom View or modify the parameters of an existing Custom View.

Note: The following options of the Edit menu are available only when a Spreadsheet View is the active window.
  • Undo: Reverses the last action of the following:
    • An edit to a cell - cutting, copying, pasting or deleting.
    • An edit to the spreadsheet - adding, deleting or inserting rows/columns; adjusting the height or width of rows/columns; hiding/unhiding rows/columns.
    • An expression change - removing Absolute/Relative references or functions; reversing all the edits made during a dialog; Property Sheet or Interactive Graphics Mode session.
    • Actions within Interactive Graphics Mode sessions. For more information, see Interactive Graphics Mode.
  • Redo: Reverses the last action of the Undo command.

Note: The Undo and Redo actions do not work on individual actions within a dialog or Property Sheet. Once a dialog or Property Sheet is accepted and closed, clicking the Undo button will reverse all the edits made during the entire session. For more information, see Property Sheet.
  • Cut: Removes content from any selected cell(s) and places a copy of the data into memory. Cut is often used (in conjunction with Paste) to "move" cell data.

Note: If you cut data from one vision system's Spreadsheet View, you cannot paste it to a different vision system's Spreadsheet View; the data must be pasted into the same Spreadsheet View from which it was cut. Note that the clipboard data will be lost if a new job is loaded onto the active vision system or if the vision system is restarted. Use Copy and Paste instead of Cut and Paste when working among different vision systems.
  • Copy: Stores contents from selected cell(s) into memory for duplication into other cells within the spreadsheet; the original content remains intact. From the In-Sight Files pane, clicking Copy will place any highlighted file(s) onto the Windows clipboard for pasting to a destination vision system.
  • Paste: Writes cut or copied data from memory to the spreadsheet, relative to the active cell. Writes files to a destination vision system or any Microsoft Windows Explorer folder (including the Desktop).

Note: When an image file is pasted toa vision system, that file becomes the active image and is represented by image.bmp. vision systems do not store images other than the active image; however, In-Sight emulators can store any number of image files (limited only by the PC's hard disk capacity).
  • Clear: Removes data, formatting, content(s), comments and symbolic tags from a cell.
    • All: Removes all contents and formatting, including comments and symbolic tags, from selected cells.
    • Formats: Removes only the formatting from your selection; the content and comments are unchanged.
    • Contents: Removes the cell contents (data and formulas) from selected cells without affecting cell formats or comments.
    • Comments: Removes only the comments attached to selected cells; cell contents and formats are unchanged. For more information, see Comment Dialog.
    • Symbolic Tag: Removes only the symbolic tags attached to selected cells; cell contents and formats are unchanged. For more information, see Symbolic Tag Editor.
  • Delete: Depending on which window is active, Delete can be used to remove files or cells from the spreadsheet. When the In-Sight Files pane is the active window, Delete can remove certain files. When the Spreadsheet View is the active window and the spreadsheet is visible, Delete is used to remove a cell(s) from the spreadsheet, relative to the currently selected cell(s) via the Delete Cells dialog. At least one cell must be highlighted before this option is available. The deleted cell(s) can be specified to shift the existing cell(s) right or down, or to delete a whole column or row of cells. For more information, see Delete Cells Dialog.

Note: Cell A0 cannot be deleted from the spreadsheet. Also, certain files cannot be cut or deleted froma vision system. For more information, see In-Sight Files.
  • Find: Searches the spreadsheet for a text string or numeric value that you specify, and selects the first cell that contains that text or numeric value, using the parameters in the Find dialog. The search may be refined by specifying whether the text string or numeric value is located in a row, column, formula, value or comment, case sensitivity, and whether or not an entire cell must be located. For more information, see Find Dialog.
  • Go To: Allows you to jump directly to a specific cell and makes that cell the active cell via the Go To dialog. For more information, see Go To Dialog.
  • Cell Graphics: Invokes Interactive Graphics Mode if the function within the active cell has an interactive graphic associated with it; otherwise, this menu option is disabled. For more information, see Interactive Graphics Mode.
  • Maximize Cell Region: Resizes the region cell graphic equal to the image region in the referenced Image data structure. Cell A0 is the default image source. If the function within the active cell does not have a region cell graphic associated with it, this menu option is disabled.
  • Cell State: Allows you to enable or disable the selected cell(s) either explicitly or conditionally via the Cell State dialog; this determines whether or not to execute the formula(s) in the selected cell(s) on each acquisition cycle. For more information, see Cell State Dialog.
  • Custom View Settings: Defines the properties of the Custom View via the Custom View Settings dialog. If more than one cell is selected, then the selected range will be used as the new Custom View cell range. For more information, see Custom View Settings Dialog.
  • EasyView Settings: Opens the EasyView Settings dialog to customize how data is displayed on VisionView. For more information, see EasyView Settings Dialog.
  • HMI View Selection: Opens the HMI View Selection dialog to specify the Run Mode views that are visible to the user from the HMI application and the order of the views when you click the Switch View button in the HMI application. For more information, see HMI Settings Dialog.
