Workspace

The Workspace consists of a ViDi Sub Task Block, the Cognex ViDi Tools and Database Editor containing the images used to solve the application.

A Workspace can be divided into a collection of Streams, and each Stream can have its own Database of Training Set and collection of ViDi tools, which operate separately from the other Streams.

For ViDi, a Workspace is the basic container that holds the relevant information for a specific application:

• Images Database: An application is defined around a set of images. Since all ViDi tools are learning-based, they need a labeled database of training images. First to parametrize and train the tools, and then to validate the results of the trained tools. If you have multiple ViDi tools, all the tools will be trained based on the same set of images. Howerver, the Regions of Interest (ROI), Views and labeling, are all tool specific.
• Inspection: The images are processed by one or more ViDi tools. For a sequence of tools, the result of the previous tool is used to select and crop a specific rectangular area (a View) in the image to be further processed by the subsequent tool.
• Results: The result of the analysis performed by the different tools is a Marking and statistics. The Marking can be shown as a graphical overlay on the processed image/View.
